FED: Wooldridge to approve genetic modified food, drugs = 2
Dr WOOLDRIDGE says he's hoping to set up a body called the Office of the Gene Technology
Regulator within 12 to 18 months, but it requires the agreement of all states and territories.
He says there are some real benefits coming through in new drugs and treatments for
conditions like multiple sclerosis, diabetes, skin cancer and HIV.
He says he doesn't mean to stand in the way of progress, but he's going to make absolutely
certain the public is safe.
